Description

One bike that handles everything from weekday commutes to weekend trail rides presents a footwear dilemma. Clipless pedals make sense when you're putting in serious miles, but they're impractical for quick errands in street shoes. The Shimano PD-M324 solves this by offering both options on a single pedal—SPD clipless on one side, flat platform on the other. Flip the pedal to match your shoes and ride.

The SPD side uses Shimano's proven two-bolt cleat interface, compatible with any SPD-compatible cycling shoe. Tension adjustment lets you dial in how firmly the mechanism holds your cleat, which matters whether you're learning clipless for the first time or you've developed specific preferences over years of riding. Lighter tension means easier release; heavier tension keeps you locked in during aggressive efforts. The included SM-SH56 multi-release cleats disengage when you twist your heel in any direction, which helps newer riders build confidence without worrying about the release motion.

The platform side provides a textured aluminum surface with enough grip for casual pedaling in sneakers, sandals, or whatever you happen to be wearing. It's not a dedicated flat pedal with aggressive pins—this is designed for neighborhood rides and errand runs, not technical descents. The platform works well for its intended purpose: getting you to the coffee shop and back without requiring cycling-specific footwear.... Read More
