The Shimano SPD-SL Long Cleat Fixing Bolt Set provides 13.5-millimeter M5 bolts for situations where standard eight-millimeter cleat bolts don't reach the threaded inserts in your shoe sole. Some cycling shoes position the cleat mounting plate deeper within the sole construction, which requires longer hardware to achieve proper thread engagement. The longer bolts also accommodate cleat spacers like the Shimano SM-SH20, which add height between the cleat and shoe sole for fit adjustments.

Standard SPD-SL cleat bolts work for most shoe and cleat combinations, but you'll need the long bolts if the standard hardware bottoms out before reaching sufficient thread depth or if you're adding spacers for biomechanical adjustments. Some shoe brands—particularly certain Sidi models and shoes with carbon sole construction—feature recessed cleat mounting areas that require the additional bolt length. The set includes six bolts, which is enough hardware to mount two SPD-SL cleats with one bolt remaining as a spare.

The bolts use the same M5 threading as standard SPD-SL hardware and torque to the same five to six newton-meter specification.
