Description

Wireless Di2 on the mountain side changes the shifter conversation—there's no cable pull to worry about, no housing friction to compensate for, just a button that talks to the derailleur over a wireless signal. The Shimano XTR SW-M9250-IR is the right-hand shift switch for that fully wireless 12-speed XTR Di2 M9250 system, and it's the I-SPEC EV direct-mount version that bolts straight to a matched Shimano brake lever instead of using a separate handlebar clamp. If you're building up an XTR Di2 cockpit and already running XTR brakes, this is the shifter that keeps the bar clean.

Shimano calls the shifting feel RAPID ES, and the goal was to make a wireless switch feel like a mechanical trigger rather than a mushy button. The paddle offers three distinct modes—hold-down multi-shift for dumping through the cassette, tactile click-through double shift for stepping two gears at a time, and locked-out single shift for one-at-a-time precision. A third programmable button sits on the assembly and can be mapped through the E-TUBE app to control a head unit, trigger FREE SHIFT or AUTO SHIFT modes on compatible builds, or handle other functions depending on what you want at your thumb.

Ergonomically the paddle offers multi-axis adjustability, so you can dial the reach and angle to match your hand position instead of settling for one fixed spot. Power comes from two CR-1632 coin cells living in the shifter body—there are no wires and no charging port, and the switch itself doesn't have an E-TUBE connection, meaning firmware updates aren't part of the maintenance picture on this component. Pairing to the derailleur happens through the Shimano mobile app via QR code, or without the app if the derailleur hasn't been paired to another shifter yet.... Read More
