Description

The Silca Pista floor pump has been in continuous production since 1961, and the current version maintains the same fundamental design that made it a shop standard for decades. The brass barrel, leather plunger seal, and wooden handle aren't nostalgic touches—they're the original engineering choices that allowed these pumps to remain serviceable for thirty or forty years in daily use. When the leather dries out, you oil it. When the hose wears, you replace it. Every component is designed for maintenance rather than disposal.

The Pista's pumping action delivers high volume with relatively low effort, reaching road pressures efficiently without the frantic stroking that cheaper pumps require. The brass barrel dissipates heat during extended inflation sessions—useful if you're inflating multiple bikes or running a shop. The wooden handle provides a comfortable grip that doesn't crack or degrade over time, and the weighted base keeps the pump stable whether you're topping off at 80 psi or pushing toward 120.

Silca designed the Pista around their proprietary presta chuck, which threads directly onto the valve stem rather than clamping around it. This eliminates the fumbling and air loss common with lever-style heads, though it does mean you need a separate adapter for schrader valves. The gauge-free design keeps the profile clean and removes one more component that could eventually fail—most riders who own a Pista check pressure by feel or use a separate digital gauge when precision matters....
