Mondo TLR Tire
Description
Winning Paris-Roubaix on a tubeless road tire tells you something about how the tire holds up when the surface stops cooperating, and that's the résumé the Specialized Mondo TLR brings to the endurance category. Lotte Kopecky rode the Mondo to victory at the 2024 Paris-Roubaix Femmes across the cobbles, which is about as brutal a durability test as tubeless road tires face. What sits underneath that racing pedigree is a 120 TPI 3-ply casing with reinforced sidewalls and a GRIPTON T2/T5 dual-compound tread that's built to shrug off rough pavement without turning into a slow-rolling brick.
The tread uses a fast-rolling T2 center strip paired with grippier T5 rubber on the shoulders, so you get low rolling resistance when you're pointed straight and confidence when you commit to a corner. A puncture-resistant strip runs under the tread and the sidewalls carry a polyamide reinforcement layer that Specialized builds thicker than their S-Works Turbo TLR race tire. That extra sidewall material is where the Mondo differentiates itself from lighter race rubber. If you've flatted through a sidewall on a chip-sealed descent or clipped a sharp cobble edge, this is the layer doing the work to prevent it.
Three widths cover most modern endurance and all-road frames. The 28mm suits traditional race geometry, the 32mm fits current endurance bikes with room to spare and hits the balance point most riders end up preferring, and the 35mm blurs into light gravel territory for riders with clearance and worse roads to deal with. Recommended pressures run 70-95 PSI for the 28mm and 50-80 PSI for the 32mm and 35mm. Tubeless setup requires sealant and compatible rims, and the folding bead seats without a compressor on most tubeless wheels.
