Description
Gravel tire selection often comes down to a frustrating tradeoff—aggressive tread patterns that hook up in loose conditions but drone on pavement, or slick-centered designs that roll fast but wash out the moment surfaces get loose. The Specialized Pathfinder TLR Gravel Tire attempts to split that difference with a tread layout that changes behavior based on lean angle, giving you a faster-rolling center section for hardpack and pavement while keeping cornering knobs available when you need to carve through gravel or loose dirt.
The casing construction uses Specialized's Gripton compound across the entire tread surface, which provides consistent grip characteristics whether you're on the center knobs or rolled over onto the shoulder lugs. The tubeless-ready bead seats without excessive fussing on most tubeless-compatible rims, and the 2Bliss construction eliminates the need for rim tape on Roval and other hookless-compatible wheelsets. Running tubeless drops rotational weight compared to a tube setup while letting you run lower pressures for improved traction and comfort on rough surfaces.
Tire volume sits in that versatile middle ground where the Pathfinder works for everything from fast gravel races to longer mixed-surface routes. The 38mm width fits frames with tighter clearances while still providing enough air volume for comfort on chunky gravel, and the 42mm and 47mm options give you more cushion and traction when frame clearance allows. The tanwall sidewall option adds some visual appeal if your build leans aesthetic, while the black sidewall version keeps things understated.... Read More
