Description

The Phenom Comp sits in the middle of Specialized's Phenom saddle family, sharing the same Body Geometry shape as the higher-priced Expert and Pro versions but swapping to hollow Cr-Mo rails to bring the price down. The Phenom Comp was designed for comfort and strength over long days on the road or trail, with a carbon-reinforced shell with outer edges that conform to your body for a near-custom fit, and durable Cr-Mo rails for peace of mind. If you already ride a Phenom Expert or Pro on one bike and want the same shape on a second bike without paying for titanium or carbon rails, this is the version to grab.

The shape is where the Phenom earns its following. It's a medium-width saddle with a full-length pressure-relief channel and a tapered, rounded tail that stays out of the way when you shift your weight back on a descent or climb out of the saddle. At the tail, you'll find the Phenom hallmarks of a rounded, anti-snag design, and throughout the saddle, an expertly tuned construction that provides the ideal degree of both stiffness and efficiency. Specialized bills this as a road-and-trail saddle, and it shows up on everything from gravel bikes to XC hardtails for that reason.

Fit comes down to sit bone width. The saddle is offered in 143mm and 155mm, and Specialized recommends matching the saddle width to a measured sit bone width rather than guessing based on rider size. Patented Body Geometry design is lab-tested to assure blood flow to sensitive arteries, and the full-length channel does its job best when the saddle width is correct for your anatomy. If you've been fitted on a Power, Romin, or Toupé at Excel, the Phenom's shape sits between the flat-profile Power and the more curved Romin.... Read More
