Power Comp Saddle with MIMIC DEMO
Color: Black
Size: 155mm
Description
This one is a demo, which means it was installed on a bike once and never ridden. Functionally and cosmetically it is the same product as a new Specialized Power Comp Saddle with MIMIC, offered at a demo price because the rails have been through a seatpost clamp. If you have been curious about the MIMIC platform but not curious enough to pay full retail to find out, this is the low-risk way in.
MIMIC came out of Specialized's work on soft tissue pressure, and it addresses a problem that cutout saddles created as much as solved. A large open channel relieves pressure through the middle, but it also gives soft tissue somewhere to drop into, and the edges of that opening become the new pressure point. MIMIC handles it with multi-layer construction — denser foam where support is needed, softer material where the body needs to deform, and a filled center section that holds tissue up instead of letting it sink. The result is pressure spread across the whole contact area rather than relocated from one spot to another. Specialized spent several years testing the construction with riders before release, and it has since filtered across much of the Body Geometry saddle range.
The shape underneath all of that is the Power, the short-nose design that pulled the rest of the industry in the same direction. Length is 240mm, where a traditional road saddle runs closer to 270mm, and the nose is truncated rather than tapered to a long point. That matters in an aggressive position: when you rotate your pelvis forward to get low, the nose of a conventional saddle sits exactly where you do not want material. Removing it lets you hold the drops or the extensions without the saddle dictating how long you can stay there.... Read More
