Description
Saddle discomfort usually traces back to one of two problems: either the shape doesn't match your anatomy, or the padding compresses under load and leaves you sitting on the shell. The Specialized S-Works Power Mirror Saddle addresses both issues through the brand's Body Geometry research program combined with a 3D-printed padding structure that behaves differently than traditional foam. The Mirror technology uses a lattice construction that adapts to pressure distribution in real time—areas under load compress while surrounding zones maintain support, creating a dynamic surface rather than a static one that bottoms out.
The Power shape places you in an aggressive position with a short nose and wide, flat profile that supports a forward pelvic rotation. This geometry works for riders who spend significant time in the drops or on the aerobars, where a traditional saddle's nose creates pressure points against soft tissue. The cutout runs the full length of the saddle center, eliminating the contact that causes numbness on long efforts. Specialized refined this shape through pressure mapping studies, identifying where blood flow restriction actually occurs and designing the relief channel accordingly.
What separates the Mirror construction from conventional foam is how it handles sustained pressure. Traditional padding compresses progressively—it feels good for the first hour, then gradually loses its support characteristics as the foam cells collapse. The 3D-printed lattice maintains consistent behavior throughout a ride because the structure flexes rather than compresses. The material also returns to its original shape between rides, so the saddle performs the same on day three hundred as day one.... Read More
