Specialized Seatpost Wedge Cover
Size: Tarmac, Crux
Description
The top of a Tarmac SL8 seat tube is an open slot with a wedge and a bolt sitting down inside it, and road spray has a direct path into the frame. Sealing that opening is the entire job of the Seatpost Wedge Cover from Specialized. It is a contoured rubber cover for the seat post clamp area on Tarmac SL8 bikes, made from durable rubber construction , and it is the same thin black grommet the bike leaves the factory with. Sold on its own, it is the service part for when the original tears, goes missing, or gets mangled during a post swap.
Construction is a single piece of rubber with no hardware, and installation requires removal of the seat post . The cover has to seat over the mouth of the seat tube and around the wedge before the post goes back in, so there is no fitting one without backing off the wedge bolt and sliding the post out. Treat it as part of a larger job — a saddle height change, a wedge service, or reassembly after travel — rather than a standalone five-minute task, and mark your post insertion depth before anything moves.
Read the name carefully, because this is the cover, not the clamp. The seat post clamp is sold separately , meaning the internal wedge assembly that actually grips the post — steel bolt, 55 in-lbf (6.2Nm) max torque — is not in this package. Specialized also catalogs distinct wedge covers for Tarmac SL7 , 2020-2023 Roubaix and Roubaix SL8 , and Shiv Disc frames, so a grommet pulled from one of those will not seat correctly here. ...
