Description
Range extender batteries solve the distance anxiety problem on Specialized's SL-platform bikes, but they create a new one: connecting the external battery to the internal system requires a cable that isn't always included with the extender itself. The Specialized SL Range Extender Battery Cable handles that connection, linking the range extender to your Turbo SL bike's existing battery system through the proprietary port designed for this purpose. It's the kind of part you don't think about until you need it, and then you really need it.
The cable runs from the range extender's output port to the charging port on your SL-platform bike, creating a pass-through connection that lets both batteries contribute to the system. When the range extender depletes, the internal battery takes over seamlessly—no stopping to swap connections or manage power distribution manually. The system handles load balancing automatically, drawing from the range extender first to preserve your internal battery's charge for when you're riding without the extender attached.
Cable length matters more than you'd expect with this setup. Too short and you're fighting the routing every time you mount the extender; too long and you've got excess cable flopping around the frame. Specialized sized this cable specifically for their SL platform geometry, accounting for the typical mounting positions of their range extender bottle cage mounts and the location of the charging port on various frame sizes....
