Bicycles > Road > Electric
Description
Lightweight e-bikes have spent years chasing a contradiction: pack enough battery and motor to matter, but keep the weight low enough that the bike still handles like a proper road machine. The Specialized Turbo Creo 2 Comp Carbon represents the latest refinement of that balancing act, built around a FACT 11r carbon frame that hides the SL1-320 battery completely inside the downtube. The integration runs deeper than cosmetics. Specialized developed the 1.2 SL motor specifically for this application, delivering 320 watts of peak power and 50Nm of torque while running quiet enough that riders regularly forget the system is active. The result weighs 32 lbs 4.8 oz in size 56, heavy by road bike standards but remarkably light for a full-power electric gravel machine.
Shimano's GRX Di2 system handles shifting duties through the RX715 and RX717 levers, driving the RX717 rear derailleur across a Deore M6100 cassette spanning 10 to 51 teeth. The wide range accommodates the bike's dual personality, spinning easily on flat pavement while offering enough low gearing to tackle sustained grades without leaning too heavily on motor assistance. Specialized paired this electronic drivetrain with GRX RX410 hydraulic disc brakes, positioned at the 400-level in Shimano's hierarchy but sharing the same stopping power and modulation characteristics found throughout the GRX family. The 44-tooth chainring provides a sensible cruising gear for motor-assisted efforts while keeping the gear inches reasonable when the battery runs low.
Future Shock 3.2 distinguishes the Creo platform from conventional rigid-fork gravel bikes. The cartridge system sits within the head tube and delivers 20mm of axial travel, absorbing small impacts before they reach the handlebars. This approach reduces fatigue on rough surfaces without adding the weight or complexity of a traditional suspension fork. The effect becomes most noticeable during extended rides on broken pavement or packed gravel, where accumulated vibration typically leaves hands and shoulders aching. Specialized routes all this through the Adventure Gear Hover handlebar, shaped with 103mm of drop, 70mm of reach, and 12 degrees of flare at the drops for stability on loose surfaces.... Read More
