Description

If you've just cut a fresh SRAM Eagle Transmission chain to length and realized you're out of Powerlocks — or you're heading out for a big backcountry ride without a spare in the pack — this is the specific connector you need. The Eagle T-Type Powerlock is engineered for SRAM's Flattop Transmission chain and isn't cross-compatible with older Eagle chains or SRAM road Flattop chains, despite the shared "Flattop" name. It's a single-use link that installs without tools, seats permanently under pedaling load, and matches the plating and wear characteristics of the T-Type chain it lives on.

SRAM specifies these as one-time-use connectors. Once you've engaged the Powerlock and put load through it, the pins seat into the outer plates and it's not designed to be pulled apart and reused like older master links from other brands. If you need to break the chain for travel, cleaning, or a wax dip, plan on installing a fresh Powerlock every time you reconnect. That's the reason most riders buying these grab a small stash rather than a single link — one for the toolbox, one for the ride pack, and one for the next chain swap.

The finish is Nickel with a PVD coating, matching the surface treatment used across the T-Type chain family. That plating covers the inner and outer surfaces of the connector so the link wears at the same rate as the rest of the chain and holds up in wet, gritty conditions. Because Transmission drivetrains run tighter tolerances between chain and cassette than standard Eagle, a connector that wears differently from the chain body can create shifting inconsistencies — the matched plating avoids that mismatch....
