Description
Powermeter spiders let you add power measurement to an existing crankset without replacing the whole unit. The Force E1 AXS Power Meter Spider from SRAM fits their 8-bolt direct mount cranksets, turning a standard Force or RED AXS crankset into a power-measuring setup. You keep your cranks, chainrings, and bottom bracket—the spider slots in between the crank arm and chainrings to measure the torque you're applying through the drivetrain.
The spider uses strain gauges positioned at the interface between crank and chainrings, capturing power data from the left side of the drivetrain. SRAM's AXS ecosystem handles the wireless transmission, sending data to compatible head units and the AXS app. The system runs on a coin cell battery rather than a rechargeable unit, which means you can swap batteries trailside or mid-ride without waiting for a charge. Battery life runs around 400 hours depending on usage patterns and temperature conditions.
Compatibility matters here. This spider works specifically with SRAM's 8-bolt direct mount interface found on Force AXS and RED AXS cranksets. It won't fit older GXP cranks or the 3-bolt DM interface used on some mountain bike cranksets. You'll also need to confirm your chainring bolt circle diameter matches—the spider accepts standard SRAM road double chainrings. If you're running a 1x setup, you'd need a different spider configuration designed for single-ring mounting.... Read More
