Description
Chain technology diverged when SRAM introduced Flattop. Traditional chains use figure-eight-shaped inner plates, but Flattop chains use flat-topped inner plates that create a wider engagement surface with the chainring teeth. The Force E1 Flattop chain runs exclusively on Flattop-compatible chainrings—standard 12-speed chainrings won't work, so verify your crankset before ordering.
The E1 designation covers both 12-speed and 13-speed SRAM road systems. Same chain works whether you're running a Force AXS 12-speed groupset or upgraded to the new 13-speed Red or Force transmission. SRAM engineered the Flattop interface to handle the tighter cog spacing these systems require while maintaining the chain's structural integrity under load.
Hard chrome plating covers both the inner and outer plates, which extends service life in wet conditions where corrosion typically accelerates wear. The included PowerLock connector snaps together without tools for installation, though SRAM specifies it's single-use—break the chain for cleaning and you'll need a fresh PowerLock.... Read More
