The GX Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit works with any SRAM Eagle ecosystem cassette, chainring, and crankarms, letting you experience AXS wireless electronic shifting without needing to buy an entire groupset — provided you're already using Eagle drivetrain products. Everything you need to make the switch comes in the box: the GX Eagle AXS rear derailleur, the AXS POD controller, battery, charger with cord, and a chain gap tool for setup.

For fall 2024, the GX AXS Upgrade Kit now includes the updated AXS POD controller rather than the original paddle-style shifter that shipped with earlier versions of this kit. The POD is a smaller, cleaner unit that mounts either with its own discreet clamp or directly to a SRAM MatchMaker brake lever clamp, and its two buttons are fully customizable through the AXS app — you decide which button shifts which direction, or reprogram them to run a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper if you're building out a full wireless cockpit.

The GX Eagle AXS rear derailleur is the same mechanical platform as X01 and XX1 AXS, just with different cage and pulley materials. The jockey wheels run on steel cartridge bearings and are fastened to a stamped steel cage instead of the aluminum cage on X01 or carbon on XX1, which is where the weight difference and the price savings both come from.
