Description

The GX Eagle powermeter crankset extends SRAM's spider-based power measurement down to the alloy crankset tier, putting accurate left-right power data on bikes that previously required a carbon-armed XX1 or X01 to access it. Built around the same DUB spindle interface as the rest of SRAM's Eagle lineup, the GX powermeter crankset reads strain through a dedicated spider-mounted sensor, transmits via ANT+ and Bluetooth Low Energy, and runs on a single AAA battery that a rider can swap trailside without tools. The result is a training-grade power source on a crankset that fits the price bracket where most serious mountain bikers actually shop.

Spider-based measurement matters in the mountain bike context. Pedal-based systems take impact hits from rock strikes and trail debris, and crankarm-based units only measure one leg. By housing the strain gauges in the spider behind the chainring, SRAM places the sensor in the most protected location on the crankset while still capturing combined left and right power at the source of propulsion. Claimed accuracy sits at +/- 1.5%, the same figure quoted for the Quarq-derived units further up the Eagle hierarchy, and the unit auto-zeros and temperature-compensates during the ride.

The crankarms are forged 6000-series aluminum with the squared-off Eagle profile, available in 165mm, 170mm, and 175mm lengths to cover the geometry range of modern trail and cross-country bikes running shorter cranks for pedal clearance. The 8-bolt direct-mount chainring interface is shared across the Eagle ecosystem, so riders can run any X-Sync 2 chainring from 30T through 38T without changing spiders, and chainline is fixed at the Boost-correct 52mm. The DUB spindle measures 28.99mm and is compatible with SRAM's full DUB bottom bracket range across BSA, PressFit 30, BB92, and BB107 shells, which means the powermeter drops into nearly any current full-suspension or hardtail frame without an adapter shuffle....
