Description
Round-edge rotor design changes how disc brakes interact with your pads during the initial bite. The SRAM Paceline CL Rounded rotor uses a machined radius on the outer edge that allows pads to engage progressively rather than catching a sharp square edge. This translates to smoother initial modulation, particularly noticeable during light braking inputs where square-edge rotors can feel grabby.
The Paceline sits in SRAM's rotor hierarchy as the road-focused option, positioned below the heat-management capabilities of their HS2 rotors but above basic OEM replacements. Steel construction with a two-piece design separates the braking track from the aluminum carrier spider, which reduces weight compared to solid steel rotors while maintaining the heat capacity needed for road riding. The Center Lock mounting interface fits any Center Lock compatible hub with the appropriate lockring.
Where the rounded edge really matters is on descents where you're feathering the brakes rather than grabbing hard. That progressive engagement gives you finer control over speed scrubbing without the on-off sensation that square-edge rotors can produce. It's a subtle difference at first, but riders who do a lot of modulated braking tend to notice it immediately.... Read More
