Description
Hollow pin construction defines the PC-X1's approach to 11-speed drivetrain duty. SRAM machines out the center of each pin to reduce rotating mass without compromising the structural integrity needed for 1x applications where the chain handles wider cassette ranges and more dramatic angle changes. The chrome hardened finish on pins and plates resists wear from constant cross-chaining that comes with running a single chainring up front.
The included PowerLock connector lets you install and remove the chain without tools or a chain breaker. The link snaps together by pulling the chain taut and clicks apart with opposing lateral pressure on the plates. This makes trailside repairs straightforward and simplifies drivetrain cleaning since you can pull the chain completely for a thorough soak. Each PowerLock is single-use, so keep a spare in your pack if you're breaking the chain regularly.
SRAM designed the PC-X1 specifically for their 1x11 mountain drivetrains, though it works equally well with 2x11 road and gravel setups using SRAM 11-speed cassettes. The 118-link length handles most frame and cassette combinations, but you'll likely remove links during installation to get the correct tension. Standard practice is to route through the rear derailleur, wrap the largest cassette cog, and bypass the front derailleur, then add two links to that measurement.... Read More
