Description
Shifting under load separates race-ready components from everything else. The PG-1170 cassette from SRAM uses PowerGlide tooth profiling across all eleven cogs, which means the ramps and chamfers that enable smooth shifts aren't limited to a few key transitions—they're machined into every gear change throughout the cassette. When you're accelerating out of a corner or responding to an attack, the drivetrain cooperates instead of hesitating.
SRAM builds the PG-1170 with steel cogs throughout most of the range, then mounts the larger climbing gears to an aluminum spider. This construction approach keeps weight reasonable while maintaining durability where it matters most—the smaller cogs where you're generating peak power and spending significant time. The steel-to-aluminum transition happens seamlessly because SRAM machines the shifting profiles consistently across both materials.
Four gear ranges cover everything from criterium racing to hilly gran fondos. The 11-26 and 11-28 configurations suit flat to rolling terrain where tight gear steps keep your cadence optimized. Jump to the 11-32 or 11-36 when the route includes extended climbs or you want lower gearing for loaded riding. All four ranges share the same 11-tooth small cog, so your top-end speed remains consistent regardless of climbing gear selection.... Read More
