PowerLock 10-Speed Chain Connector Link
Color: Black
Description
Chain reconnection on 10-speed SRAM drivetrains comes down to whether you trust the link holding the chain together, and SRAM's PowerLock Chain Connector Link is the factory-spec answer. SRAM chain engineers developed PowerLock as a tool-free, sure, and consistent way to connect their 10-speed chains , which means no chain tool is required to close the loop after installation or cleaning. The 5.95mm width matches the plate geometry of SRAM's 10-speed chains exactly, so shifting behavior stays consistent through the connection point.
The one thing worth knowing up front: the especially tight tolerances of 10-speed drivetrains mandated that each PowerLock is good for a one-time application only . Break the chain at a standard link for cleaning or maintenance, not at the PowerLock, and swap in a fresh link each time you need to reconnect. Keeping a spare or two in a saddle bag is the standard practice for roadside chain repairs.
Installation is straightforward — thread the chain ends through each plate half, pull the cranks or the chain taut, and the link snaps into its locked position. You'll feel and hear it engage. If you're replacing an old PowerLock, you'll still need a chain tool to break the chain at a non-PowerLock link first, since the connector itself isn't designed to be pried back open cleanly....
