Description

Chainring wear shows up in shifting performance before you'll notice it anywhere else. The ramps and pins that guide your chain from one ring to the next get rounded off over thousands of shifts, and suddenly your front derailleur adjustments never quite dial in. The SRAM Red 22 X-Glide outer chainring restores that crisp shift performance using the same tooth profiling and shift gate positioning found on original equipment rings.

X-Glide technology refers to the specific shaping of shift ramps and pickup pins machined into the chainring face. These features create defined paths for the chain to follow during shifts, reducing the hesitation and noise that comes with worn rings. The tooth profile itself uses variable thickness across each tooth—thinner at the tip for easy chain engagement, wider at the base for secure retention under power. This geometry matters most during out-of-saddle efforts when chain tension fluctuates rapidly.

The 110mm bolt circle diameter matches SRAM's road crankset standard, and the hidden bolt design keeps the visual lines clean while eliminating the small chainring bolts that can work loose over time. Available in 50, 52, and 53 tooth counts, the outer ring pairs with corresponding inner rings in the Red 22 system to maintain proper chain gap and shift timing. Material is machined aluminum with a hard anodized finish for wear resistance.... Read More
