Time trial and triathlon cockpits spent years on the S900 lever while SRAM's road braking moved forward without them. The Red Aero E1 Disc Brake finally brings current Red hardware to the aero bars: a textured Carbon LFRT blade at the lever end, and a forged aluminum 2-piston caliper with aluminum pistons and titanium hardware at the other. Fluid is DOT 5.1, the same as the rest of SRAM's road line, so the bleed kits and fluid you already stock carry over.

Braking from the extensions is a different job than braking from the hoods. Your hands are committed to the aero position, the lever sits at the end of the extension, and you're usually managing speed rather than making a panic stop. Reach Adjust is tooled, so you set blade position once with an Allen key and it stays put. There's no contact point adjustment here. The blade texturing earns its keep on a tri bike, where sweat running down the extensions is constant.

Each part number is a single lever and caliper for one wheel, so a full bike needs both. The front ships with an 1100mm hose and the rear with a 2000mm hose, cut to length during install.
