Description
Your frame has a round seat tube with no braze-on tab. The front derailleur you want mounts to a braze-on tab. This SRAM adapter bridges that gap, giving you a solid mounting point for any braze-on front derailleur on frames designed for band-clamp mounting.
The adapter clamps around your seat tube and provides a fixed mounting tab that positions the derailleur body correctly relative to the chainrings. SRAM machines these from aluminum, keeping weight reasonable while providing a rigid platform that won't flex under shifting loads. The two-bolt clamp design distributes pressure evenly around the seat tube, preventing the adapter from rotating when you're pushing hard through a front shift.
Two clamp diameters cover the most common seat tube sizes: 31.8mm handles standard road tubes, while 34.9mm fits frames with oversized tubing.
