Description
Every pedal stroke runs through your chain. SRAM's Red Flattop chain uses a redesigned link geometry that increases the contact patch between chain and chainring, spreading load across more surface area than traditional chains. The Flattop name comes from the profile—wider inner link plates with a flattened top that engages more tooth surface on SRAM's matching chainrings and cassettes.
This chain works exclusively with SRAM's Flattop-compatible drivetrains: Red and Force AXS in both 12-speed and 13-speed configurations. The link plates won't engage correctly on standard tooth profiles, so if you're running Rival AXS or any non-Flattop SRAM groupset, you need the standard AXS chain instead. The physical difference is immediately visible—Flattop teeth have a squared-off profile rather than the traditional pointed shape.
SRAM applies a Flow Link coating to the chain's inner surfaces, reducing friction where the rollers contact the pins. The hard chrome outer plates resist wear from chainring and cassette teeth. A PowerLock connector link comes installed, allowing tool-free chain connection. SRAM rates these PowerLock connectors for single use—once removed, replace with a fresh connector rather than reinstalling the original.... Read More
