Description
Swapping chainring sizes on a traditional spider-based crankset means removing the crankarm, wrestling with spider bolts, and hoping you remembered which chainring bolt pattern you're running. SRAM's Direct Mount interface eliminates that process entirely. The Red/Force AXS 12-Speed Direct Mount Chainring slides onto the crank spindle and locks in place with a single lockring, making chainring changes a five-minute job instead of a workshop project.
The X-SYNC 2 tooth profile uses alternating wide and narrow teeth machined to match the inner and outer plates of SRAM's 12-speed Flattop chain. Each tooth sits in a specific chain plate pocket, which keeps the chain seated through rough terrain, hard accelerations, and cross-chained pedaling. The steel construction handles the load concentration that comes with 1x drivetrains, where a single chainring manages forces that would otherwise spread across two or three rings.
Tungsten carbide coating on the tooth surfaces addresses the wear penalty that steel chainrings typically face compared to aluminum. The coating creates a harder contact surface at the chain interface without adding the brittleness that comes with through-hardened steel. Tooth profiles stay sharp longer, which maintains the precise chain engagement that X-SYNC 2 depends on for retention.... Read More
