The E1 designation indicates this derailleur uses SRAM's flat-top chain design that's standard across their 12-speed road groups. Rival AXS runs the same wireless protocol as Force and Red, so you can mix components across tiers if you want to upgrade shifters later or already have AXS parts on another bike.
