Description

Wireless shifting removes the cable routing headaches that come with mechanical systems, and SRAM's Rival AXS E1 rear derailleur brings that convenience to the Rival tier. The E1 designation means this derailleur works exclusively with SRAM's electronic ecosystem—pair it with AXS shifters and you're running a complete wireless drivetrain without any cable housing to route, adjust, or replace over time.

The derailleur handles cassettes up to 36 teeth, which opens up gearing options that mechanical Rival couldn't touch. That range matters for gravel riding or hilly road routes where you want lower gears without swapping to a compact crankset. The Orbit fluid damper controls chain movement over rough surfaces, reducing slap and keeping tension consistent when the terrain gets choppy. If you're coming from a mechanical groupset, the elimination of cable stretch and housing compression means your shifting stays consistent—no more gradual degradation that requires periodic cable tension tweaks.

Battery life runs around 60 hours of ride time per charge on the rear derailleur, and SRAM uses a common battery across their AXS components. The derailleur pairs to your shifters through SRAM's AXS app, where you can also customize shift behavior and check battery status. Installation requires setting the B-gap and limit screws like any derailleur, but after that initial setup, there's no cable tension to dial in.... Read More
