Description
Gravel and mixed-terrain riding put unique demands on rear derailleurs that road-specific designs weren't built to handle. The Rival XPLR AXS E1 addresses this with a purpose-built clutch mechanism that maintains chain tension across rough surfaces, eliminating the chain slap and dropped chains that plague road derailleurs on unpaved terrain. The clutch engages automatically and can be disabled for easier wheel changes.
The E1 designation indicates this derailleur uses SRAM's single-battery architecture, sharing one battery with your shifters rather than requiring a dedicated derailleur battery. This simplifies charging logistics and reduces the components you need to keep track of. The system connects wirelessly to SRAM's AXS ecosystem, so you can pair it with any AXS-compatible shifter and manage settings through the AXS app.
Cage length accommodates the wide-range cassettes that gravel riding demands. The derailleur handles cassettes up to 44-tooth, which pairs well with the smaller chainrings common on gravel builds. If you're running a 10-44T cassette with a 40T or 42T chainring, the XPLR derailleur provides the wrap capacity to handle that spread without chain tension issues at either extreme.... Read More
