Standard DOT V2 Disc Brake Bleed Kit
Description
Bleeding SRAM hydraulic disc brakes at home comes down to having the right fittings, the correct fluid, and a bleed block that mates to the caliper without improvisation, and the SRAM Standard DOT V2 Disc Brake Bleed Kit collects all of that into one box. The kit is compatible with SRAM/Avid hydraulic DOT brakes including X0, XX, Guide, Level, Code, HydroRoad, and G2 , which covers the current road, mountain, and gravel lineup that runs on DOT fluid rather than mineral oil. If you're servicing a SRAM-equipped bike and want to skip the labor charge on what is a straightforward maintenance job, this is the kit to have on the bench.
Inside the box you get two standard syringes with fittings, bleed blocks, a Torx tool, a crowfoot, the Bleeding Edge fitting, and DOT 5.1 hydraulic fluid . The Bleeding Edge fitting is the piece that matters — it's SRAM's threaded bleed port interface that seals cleanly to the caliper so fluid moves through the system without air getting pulled back in when you disconnect. The crowfoot lets you torque the bleed screw properly with a torque wrench in place, which is the step most home mechanics skip and then wonder why the lever feels spongy a week later.
The included DOT 5.1 fluid is the correct specification for these brakes and should not be substituted with mineral oil — the two chemistries are not interchangeable and mixing them will destroy the internal seals. If you're not sure whether your brakes use DOT or mineral oil, check the reservoir cap or the caliper before starting. This kit is for the DOT side of the fence only.
