Description

Bleeding SRAM disc brakes doesn't require a shop visit if you have the right tools assembled in one place. The Standard DOT V2 Disc Brake Bleed Kit collects everything needed for bleeding SRAM hydraulic brakes that run DOT 5.1 fluid, which covers their road, mountain, and gravel brake lines. The kit works with both mechanical and electronic shifting systems since the brake bleeding process is independent of your drivetrain.

The syringe-based system pushes fresh fluid through the brake line while displaced fluid and air bubbles exit through the caliper or lever, depending on your bleeding direction. SRAM designs their brakes for a specific bleeding procedure, and this kit includes the fittings that mate directly to their bleed ports without adapters or workarounds. The included DOT 5.1 fluid is the correct specification for SRAM brakes and should not be substituted with mineral oil, which uses an incompatible chemistry that will damage seals.

One kit handles multiple bikes in a household or a full season of maintenance on a single bike. DOT fluid is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air over time, which gradually lowers its boiling point and can lead to brake fade on long descents. Annual bleeding keeps the system performing consistently, and more frequent service makes sense if you're riding in wet conditions regularly or notice the lever feel changing.... Read More
