Description
Derailleur hangers have been the industry's most annoying compatibility puzzle for decades. Every frame manufacturer designed their own proprietary shape, creating a situation where shops needed to stock hundreds of different hangers just to cover common bikes. SRAM's Universal Derailleur Hanger changes that equation by establishing a single standardized design that frame manufacturers can adopt, eliminating the guesswork when you need a replacement.
The UDH mounts to frames designed for the standard, which includes bikes from manufacturers who've adopted the open specification. The hanger uses a two-bolt mounting interface with specific dimensions that frame builders incorporate into their dropout design. This isn't an adapter that fits any bike—your frame needs to be UDH-compatible from the factory. Check your bike's specifications or look for the UDH logo on your existing hanger to confirm compatibility before ordering.
SRAM designed the UDH around their Transmission drivetrain system, which positions the derailleur mounting point to optimize shifting performance with their T-Type derailleurs. The hanger geometry places the derailleur in the correct position relative to the cassette, maintaining consistent shifting across the gear range. While the UDH works with traditional derailleurs too, it was engineered specifically for the Transmission ecosystem.... Read More
