Description
Flattop chain design separates SRAM's Transmission system from conventional drivetrains. The X0 Eagle T-Type chain uses a completely different link profile than standard Eagle chains—the inner plates sit flush rather than protruding, which allows the chain to mesh with the unique tooth geometry on T-Type cassettes and chainrings. This isn't a compatibility preference; it's a hard requirement. Standard Eagle chains physically cannot engage T-Type drivetrain components, and this chain won't work on non-Transmission setups.
The 126-link length comes ready to install on most Eagle Transmission builds without sizing. SRAM moved away from their traditional quick link design to the Powerlock connector, which uses a specific installation tool rather than the pull-to-engage method you might be used to. The connector seats permanently once installed—it's not designed for repeated removal like some competing quick links. If you need to break the chain for travel or deep cleaning, you'll install a fresh Powerlock when reconnecting.
Hard chrome plating covers the entire chain, including inner link surfaces that contact cassette teeth. This finish holds up better than nickel plating in wet and gritty conditions, which matters given how much lateral movement happens across a 520% range cassette. The X0 sits one tier below XX0 in SRAM's hierarchy, using the same Flattop architecture without the additional surface treatments that shave a few grams at the top end.... Read More
