Description
An SRM Origin running a 24mm spindle relies on a small sleeve on the non-drive side that most riders never think about until it goes missing. The Origin 24mm Adapter from SRM is that sleeve. It slides over the spindle and sits between the axle and the non-drive crankarm, letting the arm clamp properly on the 24mm spindle. SRM specifies it for every 24mm Origin spindle, so the crankset doesn't go together without one. Each package includes the adapter, an O-ring, and installation instructions.
This part exists because the Origin is modular. The spindle swaps out, so one powermeter can move between frames with 24mm bottom brackets and frames built around other spindle sizes. New 24mm Origin spindles ship with an adapter in the box. This one replaces a lost or damaged adapter, or works as a spare if you move your Origin between bikes. Some riders have traced non-drive creaks back to a cracked reducer, so if that side has started making noise, the adapter is worth checking.
Installation order matters. The included 22mm x 3mm O-ring goes onto the non-drive end of the spindle first. Grease the axle, then slide the adapter on until it touches the O-ring. The non-drive crankarm goes on next, rotated 180° from the drive-side arm, and the slit in the adapter has to line up with the slit in the crankarm. The instructions say this alignment is mandatory, so double-check it before tightening anything.... Read More
