Description
The accuracy specifications don't change between Stages power meters built on different Shimano platforms. Whether you're running Dura-Ace or Ultegra, the Gen 3 electronics inside the Stages Power L deliver the same plus or minus 1.5 percent accuracy, the same 0 to 2500 watt measurement range, and the same Active Temperature Compensation that keeps readings consistent as conditions shift during your ride. The R8100 version puts that capability on Shimano's Ultegra crank arm, matching the measurement technology used to pace three consecutive Tour de France victories at a lower price point than the flagship equivalent.
Installation follows the standard left-arm swap that makes Stages meters straightforward to set up. Remove your existing left crank arm, bolt on the Stages-equipped R8100 version, pair it to your head unit, run a zero calibration, and start riding. The whole process takes about ten minutes with no additional sensors, magnets, or frame modifications. The power meter pod bonds directly to the crank arm during manufacturing, and Stages calibrates each unit individually in their Boulder, Colorado facility before shipping.
Gen 3 electronics brought significant improvements to signal reliability. The radio transmitter runs six times stronger than previous Stages versions, which translates to more consistent connections with bike computers and GPS watches. The unit broadcasts simultaneously over ANT+ and Bluetooth, so you can connect your cycling computer and smartphone app at the same time without switching protocols. Firmware updates happen wirelessly through the Stages app when improvements become available, keeping the meter current without requiring you to ship it anywhere.... Read More
