The Stan's NoTubes Original Tubeless Sealant formula that emerged from that work remains the baseline against which other sealants get measured, and it's still what most riders reach for when setting up road, gravel, or mountain bike tires. The thin, low-viscosity liquid coats the tire interior evenly, then seals punctures up to 6.5mm as they happen without requiring you to stop and do anything about it.

The formula stays liquid inside your tires for two to seven months depending on your climate. Humid environments extend that window while arid conditions shorten it, so desert riders should check levels more frequently. Anti-freeze agents keep the sealant functional down to -20°F, which covers winter riding in most regions without worrying about the liquid turning sluggish when temperatures drop. When you need to top off or refresh, the sealant flows through a valve with the core removed, so you can add more without breaking the tire bead.

One liter of sealant covers up to sixteen tires, though actual usage depends on tire volume. A 700x28mm road tire needs roughly 50ml per wheel while a 29x2.5" mountain tire takes around 125ml.
