Road tubeless has always had one nagging weak point: the firmer you run your pressure, the less margin sealant gets to plug a hole before the tire dumps its air. Stan's NoTubes built Rolled Gold Tubeless Sealant to attack exactly that.

Features

Road tubeless has always had one nagging weak point: the firmer you run your pressure, the less margin sealant gets to plug a hole before the tire dumps its air. Stan's NoTubes built Rolled Gold to attack exactly that. This is a purpose-built road and gravel formula optimized for the 35-100 psi range, where low-volume tires give sealant the least room to work. If your setup runs firm and you've watched other sealants spray, foam, and still leave you reinflating on the roadside, this is the formula aimed squarely at that frustration.

The performance claim that anchors Rolled Gold is speed at pressure. Stan's says it seals round punctures up to 7.8mm at 100 psi, holding at 97 psi once the plug forms, with most of the development testing done right at that 100 psi mark. The mechanism explains why it works where thinner formulas struggle: when a tire punctures, the rapid pressure drop bursts latex spheres right at the wound, small particles build the plug, and longer latex polymer chains grab the casing fibers and cure as they hit air. It's a two-part action built for the split-second window a high-pressure tire gives you before it goes soft.

The other headline is how little you need. Stan's says a 700x28mm tire seals with as little as 35ml, versus 50ml for the Original formula, and the company pegs that at roughly 35% less than the competitor average. That lower fill drops rotating mass where it actually spins, which is the kind of marginal gain road and gravel riders chase. Across two wheels the volume savings is modest, but it's real, and it comes without giving up puncture coverage through the pressure range.

Chemistry is a genuine differentiator here. Rolled Gold uses 100% natural latex rather than synthetic, which Stan's says gives better adhesion to rubber and casing fibers, more tensile strength, and a plug that stays flexible instead of turning brittle once cured. The formula is water-based and biodegradable, and Stan's sources the latex to EUDR-compliant standards. Practically, better adhesion means the seal is more likely to hold under the repeated flex and heat a road tire sees at speed.

Installation is straightforward and, importantly, valve-friendly. Unlike Stan's Race Day sealant, whose larger particles rule out valve injection, Rolled Gold can go straight through the valve using the Stan's Sealant Injector or the 125ml and 60ml bottles, so you can refresh before an event without breaking the bead. If you're deciding between Stan's three formulas: Original is the do-everything option, Race Day is the big-hit choice that can't be injected, and Rolled Gold sits between them as the high-pressure road and gravel pick. It's also formulated, produced, and bottled in the USA by Stan's. For a drop-bar rider who wants fast sealing, low fill weight, and easy top-ups, this is the one built for your bike.
