Description

Stock brake pads from Shimano and SRAM get the job done, but riders who want more stopping power and better modulation on aluminum rims typically end up here. SwissStop's FlashPro BXP pads represent the company's current-generation aluminum rim compound, replacing the previous green pads with a formulation that improves wet weather braking while maintaining the linear lever feel that makes group riding less stressful. The blue compound identifies these as BXP at a glance — white lettering on the pad side confirms they're meant for alloy brake tracks.

The BXP compound delivers what SwissStop calls a non-sticky, predictable feel. That translates to braking force that increases proportionally with lever pressure rather than grabbing suddenly at some threshold. You can feather the brakes through corners or apply progressive pressure approaching a stop without the on-off sensation that cheaper pads sometimes produce. When roads get wet, the compound maintains more of its dry-weather stopping power than standard pads — a difference you notice most on fast descents where water spray hits the brake track continuously.

SwissStop formulates the BXP compound without abrasive materials that score aluminum brake surfaces. The pads won't accelerate rim wear the way some aggressive compounds do, which matters if you're running lightweight alloy clinchers where the brake track is already thin. Riders report getting a full season — often 5,000 to 6,000 miles — from a set before the wear indicators suggest replacement, though mileage varies with terrain and conditions. Operating temperature range spans -20°C to 40°C, so the pads work consistently from cold morning starts through hot summer climbs and the extended braking of alpine descents.... Read More
