Description

Saddle bags have limited real estate, and a standard butyl tube takes up most of it. The S-Tubo Road from Tubolito solves that problem by shrinking down to a fraction of the packed size while weighing just 23 to 25 grams depending on valve length. That's roughly 80% lighter than a typical road tube. The reduced footprint means you can fit the tube, a patch kit, a multi-tool, and still have room left over. For riders who've gone tubeless but want a backup option, the S-Tubo Road fits the bill without forcing you to carry a bulky spare.

The weight savings come from thinner TPU walls compared to Tubolito's standard Tubo line. Despite the reduced thickness, puncture resistance remains comparable to butyl tubes in needle tests. Rolling resistance drops as well—independent testing shows the S-Tubo outperforms standard butyl and approaches latex territory. If you're racing or riding events where every advantage counts, the lower hysteresis of thin TPU translates to real watts saved at the contact patch. Air retention stays consistent with butyl, so you won't be topping off pressure any more frequently than usual.

One critical compatibility note: the S-Tubo Road works with disc brake bikes only. The thin wall construction can't handle the heat generated by rim braking on carbon clinchers, so if you're running rim brakes, stick with the standard Tubo Road instead. The tube fits 700C tires from 18mm to 32mm widths, and Tubolito offers three valve lengths to match different rim depths. If tubeless sealant residue remains inside your tire from a previous setup, no problem—the TPU material handles it without degradation. Just remember that standard butyl patch kits won't bond to TPU, so carry the Tubolito-specific repair kit.
