Description
Tubeless setup on the road has gone from fringe to mainstream over the last few years, and Vittoria's Rubino sits at the entry point of their tubeless lineup. This is the training tire — the one you reach for when you want tubeless benefits without spending race-tire money on something you're going to wear through in a few thousand miles. The Rubino has been in Vittoria's catalog for decades in various forms, and the tubeless version brings that durability-first philosophy into the modern setup most riders are running now.
Vittoria builds the Rubino around their 3C Endurance compound, a three-compound construction that uses harder rubber in the center for wear life and softer rubber on the shoulders for cornering grip. It's not the Graphene 2.0 compound you get on the Corsa — that's reserved for the race tires — but the 3C layout still gives you predictable handling without burning through the tread cap in a single season. The casing uses a 60 TPI nylon construction, which sits on the more durable end of the spectrum compared to the suppler 320 TPI casings on Vittoria's top-end tires.
Puncture protection comes from a full-coverage belt running under the tread, which is what you want on a tire that's going to see commuter miles, group ride duty, and the occasional gravel detour you didn't plan on. The tubeless-ready bead seats reliably on hooked and hookless rims rated for tubeless road use, and the tire takes standard road tubeless sealant without any drama.... Read More
