Description
Older cadence sensors required a magnet on the crank and a pickup on the frame, which meant fiddly alignment, zip ties in multiple locations, and the constant risk of the magnet shifting out of range. The Wahoo RPM Cadence Sensor skips all of that by using a 3-axis accelerometer instead—it detects crank rotation through motion rather than magnetic pulses. Mount it to your crank arm or clip it to your shoe, pair it once, and forget about it until the battery dies a year from now.
At 7 grams, the RPM adds essentially no weight to your setup. The sensor mounts to the inside of your non-drive-side crank arm using either the included rubber sleeve with zip ties or the 3M adhesive pad for a cleaner look. Positioning it on the crank's inside face keeps it clear of your shoe and away from the drivetrain. For riders who switch between multiple bikes, the shoe mount option clips between your laces and moves with you—one sensor covers your whole stable without buying multiples or swapping hardware between rides.
Wahoo built the RPM with dual-band wireless, broadcasting simultaneously over Bluetooth Smart and ANT+ protocols. That means it pairs with your phone, your Wahoo ELEMNT, your Garmin, your indoor trainer app, or any other device that speaks either language. Two LED indicators confirm what's happening: blue blinks when the sensor connects to a device, red blinks when it detects pedaling. If you're troubleshooting a pairing issue, those lights tell you immediately whether the problem is connection or detection.... Read More
