The CORE 2 shares the same 5.4 kg flywheel and electromagnetic resistance unit that made the original CORE a staple of indoor training setups. That flywheel weight sits at the heavier end for trainers in this price range, which translates to smoother inertia through the pedal stroke and more realistic simulation of road feel. Maximum resistance reaches 1,800 watts, and the trainer simulates gradients up to 16% and descents to -10%. Power accuracy holds to ±2%, which is tight enough for structured training and Zwift racing without needing an external power meter to verify your numbers.
Race Mode addresses a limitation of standard trainer protocols. Traditional smart trainers broadcast power data once per second, averaging readings over that interval. Race Mode increases the broadcast rate up to 10 Hz, sending data with every flywheel revolution.
