Description
Bike fitting often comes down to a few millimeters in either direction. Bar height relative to saddle affects weight distribution, breathing mechanics, and how much load your hands carry over long distances. Wheels Manufacturing produces these 1-1/8" headset spacers in 2.5mm thickness specifically for fine-tuning stack height once you've established approximate position with larger spacers. The thin profile lets you dial in exact measurements rather than rounding to the nearest 5mm or 10mm increment, which matters when you're chasing a specific fit or matching position between multiple bikes.
The spacers are machined from aluminum with flat, parallel faces. This isn't just about aesthetics—headset spacers form part of the bearing preload assembly, and any variation in face angle creates uneven loading on the headset bearings. Cheap spacers with angled or rough faces can introduce play that returns no matter how carefully you adjust the top cap tension. They can also cause the stem to sit crooked even when the steerer tube is perfectly straight. Precision machining eliminates both problems, so the stack compresses evenly and the headset preloads correctly.
The silver anodized finish resists corrosion from sweat and road spray while matching polished or silver-toned cockpit components. If you're building up a bike with a silver stem, seatpost collar, or bar end plugs, these spacers maintain visual consistency through the headset stack. The anodizing also creates a harder surface than raw aluminum, reducing the chance of scratches or marring during installation and adjustment.... Read More
