Description

The Zipp 303 XPLR SW Gravel Tubeless Disc Front Wheel is purpose-built for the demands of high-performance gravel racing, engineered to be both fast and capable over rugged terrain. Unlike traditional gravel wheels that are often adapted from road platforms, the 303 XPLR SW was designed from the ground up using Zipp’s Total System Efficiency (TSE) philosophy. This approach targets the biggest resistance factors in gravel—rolling resistance, aerodynamic drag, vibration losses, and gravity—creating a wheel that maintains speed and efficiency when conditions get rough. The rim’s ultra-wide 32mm internal width allows riders to confidently run tubeless gravel tires at lower pressures—under 30 psi for most riders—reducing rolling resistance while improving traction and cornering stability. Combined with a 54mm rim depth and a maximum outer width of 40mm, the wheel ensures seamless tire integration for a smoother aerodynamic profile, cutting through wind on open gravel sectors.

At the heart of the 303 XPLR SW is Zipp’s ZR1 DB hub system, engineered in Germany for superior durability and responsiveness. Featuring an advanced seal design and 66 points of engagement, the hub delivers lightning-fast pickup and reliable performance across variable conditions. The 24 Sapim CX-Ray spokes are laced in a 2-cross pattern, balancing lateral stiffness with compliance to absorb vibrations from uneven terrain. A center-lock rotor interface, included lockring, and compatibility with both XDR and SRAM/Shimano driver bodies (with Campagnolo N3W available separately) ensure broad drivetrain integration. The hookless carbon rim construction adds strength and keeps weight impressively low, with the front wheel as part of a complete set weighing just 1452 grams. This combination of aerodynamic depth, wide internal profile, and durable hub technology makes the 303 XPLR SW a true race-ready weapon for long gravel events and demanding adventures.

Every detail of the 303 XPLR SW contributes to rider confidence and long-term reliability. The wheel supports tire widths between 40–60c, making it optimized for modern gravel race tires, with Goodyear’s XPLR Slick and Inter models specifically developed for this wheelset. Maximum tire pressure is capped at 50 psi, ensuring optimal performance within the intended range. The tubeless setup ships ready with valves and tape included, and the wheelset’s system weight rating of 298 lbs (135 kg) accommodates a broad spectrum of riders and gear. Finished with Zipp’s understated UD fiber carbon aesthetic and Impress graphics, the 303 XPLR SW is not only one of the fastest gravel wheels available, but also among the most refined. Backed by a lifetime warranty, it delivers the perfect blend of aerodynamic efficiency, compliance, and durability, ensuring it performs as strongly on mile one as it does on mile one hundred.
