Description

Gravel tire selection usually splits between aggressive knobs for loose terrain and faster-rolling treads for hardpack. The Zipp Goodyear XPLR Intermediate sits between those poles with a tread pattern built around the mixed surfaces most gravel riders actually encounter. A tight center pattern keeps rolling speed up on hardpack and pavement, while bulkier shoulder knobs engage when you tip the bike into a corner or hit looser terrain. One important caveat before you buy: this tire is part of a designed-as-a-system fitment with Zipp's 303 XPLR wheels, and Zipp specifies that only approved tires should be used on those rims.

The 700x50mm size pairs with Zipp's 32mm internal-width TSS rim profile, which is the geometry the tire was developed around. That ultra-wide rim supports the casing at the low pressures gravel riders chase for vibration damping and grip, and it keeps the tire's profile aerodynamically proportional to the rim rather than ballooning out into a lightbulb shape. If you're running 303 XPLR S or SW wheels, this is the intended fitment. If you're running a more traditional gravel rim with a narrower internal width, the tire will physically mount on most tubeless-ready hookless rims, but you'll lose the system-level aero and stance benefits Zipp engineered around.

Construction uses a 120 TPI casing with M:Wall sidewall reinforcement, which Goodyear designed to handle cuts and pinch flats so you can push pressures lower without paying for it later. The rubber is Goodyear's Dynamic:UHP compound, a single-compound formulation aimed at lowering rolling resistance while holding grip across temperature ranges. Dual Angle Beads handle the seating interface on the XPLR rims, and the Tubeless Complete construction means setup is straightforward with your preferred sealant.... Read More
