The Service Course SL Seatpost from Zipp uses a unidirectional carbon tube with the layup tuned for shock absorption rather than chasing a weight number, and it still clears Zipp's internal MTB strength test — a validation standard well past what road duty asks of a post. The head is forged AL-7075 and bonds into the carbon tube, with a 7075 clamp and steel hardware doing the work up top. The two-bolt cradle handles saddle angle and fore-aft position together, and the head was reshaped so the bolt heads stay reachable with a hex key once the saddle is mounted — worth something if you move your position around or pack the bike for travel. The cradle takes both round and square rail profiles, so alloy and carbon-railed saddles both seat correctly. Rail bolts torque to 7Nm.

Setback is where the buying decision usually lands. The 0mm version puts the clamp over the post centerline, which suits slack seat tube angles or anyone replacing a straight post who wants fit left alone.
