Description

Chainring teeth take the direct hit from chain articulation thousands of times per ride, which makes material choice and tooth profile critical for shift performance and durability. This 53-tooth outer ring uses 7075 aluminum alloy machined from billet stock. The material starts out harder than standard 6000-series aluminum, then receives heat treatment that increases wear resistance without making the teeth brittle under load. Campagnolo applies their AFT anti-friction coating after machining, which gives the ring a matte gray finish and reduces friction between the chain and tooth surfaces during shifts.

The Ultra-Drive tooth profile shapes each tooth to guide the chain during upshifts and downshifts. Ramps cut into the teeth create pathways for the chain to climb onto larger rings or drop onto smaller rings. Steel pins positioned at specific points around the ring catch the chain plates during shifts and pull the chain across to the next ring. These features work together to reduce shift duration and improve reliability under pedaling load. The tooth profile has been refined through multiple generations of ten-speed systems to work specifically with Campagnolo's ten-speed chain pitch and roller width.

The ring fits Campagnolo ten-speed Record and Chorus cranksets that use the five-bolt mounting pattern with 135mm bolt circle diameter. This measurement indicates a standard double configuration rather than compact gearing. If you're rebuilding a ten-speed Record or Chorus crankset with worn rings, this is the direct replacement for the outer position. The 53-tooth count pairs with 39-tooth inner rings for standard gearing. Chainring wear shows up as delayed shifts or chain skip under power, and replacing worn rings restores the crisp shifting response you expect from a fresh drivetrain.... Read More
