Description

The Cervélo Soloist occupies intentional middle ground between the aerodynamic S5 and the climbing-focused R5, delivering a race bike that handles both disciplines without the compromises of choosing one extreme. The carbon frame borrows tube shapes and aerodynamic profiles from the S5 while incorporating layup techniques and compliance characteristics from the R5. The result lands approximately 250 grams lighter than S5 and 250 grams heavier than R5, with aerodynamic performance splitting the difference as well.

Cervélo pulled the geometry directly from the R5, which translates to handling that remains composed through technical descents and responsive when accelerating out of corners. The 410mm chainstays stay consistent across all six frame sizes, contributing to a snappy feel under power. Tire clearance extends to 34mm measured width, allowing riders to run wider rubber for training or rougher road surfaces without sacrificing the bike's race-day capabilities.

The BBRighT-47 bottom bracket uses a T47 threaded shell—the same standard found on the R5-CX—making crankset swaps and bearing replacements straightforward without specialized tools or press-fit headaches. Internal cable routing runs through the frame for aerodynamic benefit, but Cervélo's bearing cap system routes cables under the stem rather than through it. This means stem length adjustments or swaps don't require bleeding the brake lines, a practical consideration for riders who dial in fit over time or share bikes between teammates.... Read More
