Lace closure on a race shoe is a deliberate weight trade. Where Boa dials add mechanical hardware and the grams that come with it, DMT's Pogi Superlight eliminates that system entirely — and the result is 195 grams per shoe in a size 42, which represents an 11% reduction from the previous Pogi model. Developed in collaboration with Tadej Pogacar, the Superlight is a ground-up redesign rather than a spec-level refresh. The weight savings come from two specific places: a re-engineered Full Engineered 3D Knit upper that is 15% lighter than the prior version, and a new carbon monocoque sole with a reduced stack height that shortens the distance between the ball of your foot and the pedal platform.

The one-piece knit upper wraps the foot without seams or bonded panels, distributing pressure evenly and reducing the chance of hotspots during long efforts. DMT uses mapped reinforcement zones within the knit to maintain structure across the midfoot and around the heel while allowing natural flex at the toe box. The laces thread through a pulley system for even tension distribution, and once secured, they tuck into the repositioned AeroSafe pocket on the tongue for a clean aerodynamic profile. That pocket relocation is part of a broader aero story — the tapered silhouette of the Pogi Superlight is shaped to reduce frontal air resistance, and the repositioned pocket opening contributes to smoother airflow over the top of the shoe.

The knit upper does not open like a traditional shoe — there is no tongue that pulls away from the foot — so DMT includes a shoe horn in the box as a practical necessity for getting your foot into the seamless construction. Once you are in, the lacing system locks the upper around your foot, but this is not a shoe you can adjust on the move the way you would with a Boa dial.
