Description
Aluminum construction keeps weight down on these DT Swiss freehub bodies, which convert hubs between different cassette standards without tools or special equipment. The freehub body slides straight off the hub shell once you remove the cassette and compression ring, then the replacement body slides back on and threads into place. This plug-in design works with DT Swiss 180, 240, 350, and 440 series hubs equipped with either Classic Ratchet or Ratchet EXP systems, allowing you to switch from Shimano HG splines to SRAM XDR interfaces or any other supported cassette type.
The Classic Ratchet System freehub bodies feature a gloss finish and place the freehub seal on the hub shell rather than the freehub body itself. These work with two conical springs that compress the star ratchets together. Ratchet EXP versions use a matte finish and integrate the ratchet directly with the threaded ring, reducing component count and using a single cylindrical spring instead of two conical springs. The EXP design positions the driveside bearing further outboard, increasing bearing spacing for improved hub stiffness. Both systems deliver the simultaneous tooth engagement that distributes torque loads evenly across the entire ratchet face.
Each kit includes the appropriate end cap for 12x142mm axle configurations. The same end caps work across 142mm and 148mm spacing since DT Swiss uses consistent interfaces within axle diameter families. If you're converting to a different axle standard beyond cassette type, order the freehub body without end caps and purchase the correct end cap kit separately. Confirm your hub series and ratchet system type before ordering since Classic Ratchet and Ratchet EXP freehub bodies are not interchangeable between hub types.
