The long awaited Panaracer Tubeless tire is here. After literally years of testing which includes micro-managing the minute details in pure Japanese fashion, Panaracer brings us the Race A EVO3 Tubeless tire. Personally, we have tested many tubeless road tires over the last few years and we can attest to the fact that these tires mount up square to the bead and seat-up better than any other tire we have used. Usually, we do not lean towards particular products in copy writing, but these tires are simply the best design as the time of this product review.
With tubeless tires, the majority of engineering concern is focused on the bead. The all-important bead is required to seat properly and stay in place. Sounds simple enough, but from an engineering perspective, there is a lot of thought and effort that requires specific materials and tight tolerances. This design would be focused equally on performance and safety. Back to the bead: this was the birth of Probead. Most tubeless manufacturers use a standard carbon based design. Carbon is elastic and resilient, and while it's an easy answer in the modern day, Panracer's engineers felt straight carbon wasn't the complete solution. Hence Probead, a proprietary carbon-based hybrid bead that has the distinct advantage of staying seated on the rim bead while flatting due to the carbon additives which produce a superior composition. What you get is optimized safety, with no degradation of performance.
Beyond the tubeless concerns, the tire is of pure Race A Evo 3 designation, and receives all of the Race A technology. This includes Panaracer's All Contact profile. For those unfamiliar, this refers to the actual shape of the tread that is laid on the casing. Unlike most tires, it's not round. The center of the tire features a a slight angle that descends down to the end of the tread where it meets the sidewall. The concept is simple, when the tire rolls over to a lean angle, you get complete contact or in this case All Contact. The angled tread on each side creates a point in the center of the tire for minimal rolling resistance. This angled tread design is not unique, it has been used in the performance motorcycling world for many years.
As far as durability is concerned, the Panaracer ProTight belt is what keeps these tires from flatting. ProTight is a soft woven belt which offers the ultimate protection by keeping road debris from penetrating the supple casing. And what's more remarkable than the protection, is the ProTight belt is so pliant and finely woven, it has virtually no negative effect on ride quality.
It's a fact that the ride quality is always dependent on the casing. The Race A EVO3 Tubeless features Panaracer's supple AX casing. The casing's composition features soft and flexible fibers that are strong enough for durability and handle high tire pressures, but still conform to varied and uneven surfaces. This flexibility and suppleness results in maximized grip, comfort and a certain surefooted feel in corners.

These are really great tires! I have been using these 25mm tubeless tires for about 1 year using Stan’s fluid, valves and tape. No cuts, flats or issues in over 2000 miles. Pressure loss is about 10 PSI per week but probably related to the rim and tape set up. I find that they work best for me at 65 front and 70 PSI rear and drop another 5PSI for wet. The rear tire is showing some wear but still may be capable of another 1000 miles. Thus, far no cuts even after accedently running over some glass or using them in the rain. However, I still carry a tire tube , as a well as, tire plugs just in case. The Gravel Kings sold me on Panaracer but I do wish they made these tubeless in 28mm for greater comfort and more confidence around corners. As much as I love these tires for the riding season the heavier and wider 28mm Gravel Kings are magic and my overall all weather favorites.
Pros Durable with great handling
Cons Average in wet weather with a stiff sidewall
